A person who is paid to entertain an audience at a public show or event is an entertainer.

Entertainment can be adapted to any scale: from a private amusement (such as downloading music or movies) to a banquet for two; from family parties to concerts for thousands. It is generally associated with amusement, but it can also serve serious purposes such as ceremonial occasions, religious festivals, or satire.
